Before moving a workload to the cloud, ask five questions. What does it cost today, all in? Who owns it once it moves? What happens if it fails?

Then ask how much data moves in and out each month, and whether the application needs to change to run well in the cloud.

The answers decide whether to rehost, replatform or rebuild, and they keep the business case honest from the start.
